First off, abalone was served as a tsumami, and the chef instructed me to put the abalone and its sauce on top of a clump of rice that was served as is—the exact shari used for nigiri. The structure required me to build my own nigiri, which made me tilt my head in confusion as to whether I was supposed to make it myself. The abalone was even tough, so the texture lacked refinement. Overall, the fishy scent was constantly bothersome. In every piece of nigiri, the fishy smell hit before the freshness of the neta itself, and the temperatures were inconsistent, with some pieces cold and others lukewarm. Furthermore, the pace of the course was so fast that I had to gulp down many of the pieces in a rush, and the composition itself was strange, with a croquette suddenly appearing in the middle of the nigiri pieces, causing the flow to break completely. In particular, the croquette left my mouth and tail feeling greasy, which completely ruined the taste of the nigiri that followed. While the portion size was certainly generous, it felt like I was forced to fill my stomach with unappetizing food, so even for a big eater like me, this was a negative factor rather than a plus. Additionally, there was much to be desired in terms of service and shop management. I understand it's a one-chef operation and that it was busy, but shouldn't there be a consistent order for serving pieces to customers? There were 8 guests in total, but the chef only announced explanations about the menu in a loud voice about 3 times in a casual manner and just moved on, making me wonder if they had completely given up on the detailed service typical of an omakase. On top of that, the noise from the dishwasher inside the kitchen was as loud as the restaurant's background music, making the environment too chaotic to enjoy a meal in peace, mung. To sum up, even though I didn't have high expectations from the start given the low price of 65,000 won, the entire course was not just disappointing, but so fishy, salty, and tasteless that I was very frustrated. If I had to find a positive side… it would be that I learned that the importance of ingredient quality and service cannot be overemphasized, just as much as the cuteness of Gilmung-i… 🐶Tail Index: 2.5 / 5.0 Mungmung!!
