As a Chinese restaurant over 40 years old, it's known as a pretty famous old establishment even in Changwon. It's an old place, but it's still so packed during lunch that there are no seats available. It was full again today, but luckily I didn't have to wait long, and a seat opened up soon enough for me to sit right down. I usually have the jajangmyeon when I come here, but today I decided to try something a bit different and ordered the ganjajang. The ganjajang comes with the noodles and sauce served separately. The sauce is filled with large chunks of ingredients including onions, and there's a fried egg on top of the noodles. I scoop a generous amount of sauce over the noodles, add about a tablespoon of red chili powder, and mix it all up properly. Then I top it with a slice of pickled radish and eat it together. The sweet and salty jajang combined with the spiciness of the chili powder really brings out the umami. Eating it with the pickled radish in between bites makes it impossible to stop. The ganjajang was good enough, too, but personally, I think their regular jajangmyeon has a bit more character. Unlike the regular jajangmyeon you often see filled with big chunks of ingredients, their regular version comes out with almost no visible ingredients, like uni-jajang, but that's exactly what gives it the restaurant's signature feel. I tried the ganjajang for a change today, but I'll probably end up ordering the regular one like I always do next time I visit. There's a reason why this place has survived in the neighborhood for over 40 years.
