Haemul Son Kalguksu isn't on the menu board, but when ordering, the staff explains and the wet towel wrapper shows that you can choose from three spice levels: mild, regular, and spicy. I ordered regular, but it tasted a bit peppery and spicy, so I think it would be better to order mild if you are visiting with young children. The contents of the kalguksu include mussels, clams (baekhap), sea squirts (omandungi), green onions, onions, and crab, with no Manila clams (bajirak). I suspect the spiciness comes from ground cheongyang chili peppers. They serve chive kimchi, napa cabbage kimchi, and radish kimchi (kkakdugi); the napa cabbage and kkakdugi were perfectly ripened, and the kkakdugi had a subtle sweetness that was delicious. People who prefer fresh kimchi like geotjeori might find this selection disappointing, but I personally liked it very much. The squid chives pancake was thin and fried to be incredibly crispy. It was a satisfying lunch, and I have intentions to revisit to try other menu items.
