Igane Lamb Skewers (이가네양꼬치) was there even before I knew about it. It was just always packed, as if that were only natural. I've been to my fair share of lamb skewer spots... wait, I've never been here? -Menu: Lamb skewers, yaki udon, guobaorou Watching the lamb skewers spinning around is always fun. Round and round. At first, I only ordered lamb skewers. I wasn't full from a late snack, but the moment I took the first bite, I got curious about the rest of the menu. It was because the meat itself was just so tasty. It goes without saying there was absolutely no smell; whether it’s aging or marinating, or whatever you want to call it, the quality of the meat was incredible. Unless this lamb, now meat, was born with a culinary talent and coincidentally caught and brought to my table, this just means the basics of handling lamb here are excellent. One of the most popular items here is the yaki udon. When you think of Daegu, you think of yaki udon. I ordered the yaki udon to add on, and also to see what the chef could do. It was a massive portion for 7,000 won. It smelled amazing. After one bite, I was dumbfounded. I’ve been to a few Chinese restaurants in Daegu known for yaki udon, but they were just worse than what was in front of me. It felt like they were in a different weight class. How can it taste this good? It’s a yaki udon that seems to have been stir-fried over a very high flame to drive out the moisture, flavored with chili powder and chili oil. Rather than being sweet, salty, or overly stimulating, it’s a proper stir-fry dish in its own right. I’d want to make anyone try this. Ha... look at this? "Owner! If there's any guobaorou left, can I get it to go?" -"Sure, you can." So I went ahead and ordered guobaorou, a dish I personally love, and this was also incredibly good. It was generous, naturally, and the sauce was quite unique. Balancing the acidity of ketchup and lemon with a finish of chili oil, this sauce was excellent and at the same time, a flavor you can only taste at Igane Lamb Skewers. If my friend were Tzuyang, I’d order one of everything to try them all... Every single menu item had so much character that I thought this. To think I only visited a restaurant like this now... Without a doubt, Igane is likely the best for lamb skewers in Daegu.
