They have a variety of menu items, but the lunch special ssambap is effectively their star. I ordered the ssambap. (Lunch special) The side dishes included seasoned clams, pickled garlic leaves, green onion kimchi, fresh kimchi, silkworm pupae, seasoned bean sprouts, salted squid, and more... The number of dishes is unbelievable for the price of 10,000 won. The side dishes change periodically, so there's a new charm every time you visit. Overall, the side dishes taste good, and the leafy greens for wrapping are generous and refillable as well. The swamp eel soybean paste stew comes in individual earthenware pots for each person; it's the kind where savory, mellow flavors take center stage rather than saltiness. It settles comfortably in your stomach as you eat, and the savory notes definitely pair well with the swamp eels. Soon after, the swamp eel ssamjang and stir-fried pork arrive, and the portion of pork per person is quite substantial. The pork uses thinly sliced, lean cuts, so there's almost no gamey smell, and it's decent. The swamp eel ssamjang is a bit unique; the first time I went, I was a bit taken aback because it tasted unlike anything I'd ever had before. It had a thick, sticky texture like rice cakes, as if a lot of starch had been added, and only a sweet taste came through, so I didn't care for it at all and just wrapped my ssam with the plain soybean paste. However, on another day, there was a bit more saltiness in the ssamjang, making it taste quite respectable. Given that the stir-fried pork was sweeter that day than the last time, it seems the flavors aren't always consistent. Honestly, with most ssambap places these days giving stingy portions of meat that fall short of a single serving and skimping on leafy greens, you can leave fully satisfied here with their abundant side dishes and generosity, all for 10,000 won. It’s because of places like this, quietly maintaining their own character in unexpected locations, that I can't stop searching for hidden gems outside the city center. I hope people who don't know about this ssambap place get to experience it at least once.
