Pink star(1 reviews)Takeout・Visited 2026/01(1 visits)4.004[Daejeon/Sungsimdang (성심당)] Already My 3rd Visit of 2026! Stocking Up on S-Bread"Sungsimdang is part of Daejeon's culture" I visited the DCC branch of Sungsimdang, Daejeon's pride and joy. The year has barely begun, but as a bread lover, this was already my third visit this year. The DCC branch is a bit more relaxed than the main store, but I love its lively atmosphere, still bustling with fellow bread lovers. It's near Expo Park, so it's also perfect for stopping by while out for a walk. Today I'm reviewing the must-haves I stock up on every time, some breads the kids love, and a few honest picks that may not be for everyone. 🥖 "This Quality at This Price?" My Top 2 Value Picks 1. French Flour Baguette (Parisien) / 3,000 won [Today's Top Recommendation!] If you go to Sungsimdang, make sure you grab this baguette. Taste: Made with French flour, it's a classic baguette—crackly on the outside and chewy and moist inside. The nutty flavor builds as you chew, and it's amazing. Why I recommend it: With prices these days, an authentic baguette of this quality for just 3,000 won is unbelievable... The value is seriously hard to beat. It tastes fantastic even with nothing but a dip in olive oil, so I highly recommend it if you like simple breads. 2. Gongju Whole-Chestnut Loaf / 4,000 won Taste: Just as the name suggests, the loaf is packed with whole chestnuts from Gongju. So many whole chestnuts tumble out that you could practically call it half bread, half chestnut. Why I recommend it: You get sweet bites of chestnut between the soft layers of bread, and 4,000 won for this quality is an absolute steal. Paired with milk, it makes the perfect filling snack! 🥗 "To Each Their Own!" A Polarizing Pick for Die-Hard Fans 3. S-Bread / 3,000 won [Recommended for Fans of Mild Flavors] It's my personal favorite, and I stock up on 4–5 every time I go, but honestly, it may not be for everyone. Taste: Made without sugar, butter, or eggs, it has a very wholesome taste. There's nothing intense about it—it's plain and mild. Walnuts are dotted throughout the S-shaped bread, giving it a satisfying bite. Who it's for: If you enjoy the warm, nutty flavor of grains that develops as you chew, or you're looking for a simple meal bread for dieting or healthier eating, this could become your all-time favorite! (On the other hand, if you like sweet and salty breads, this may be way too plain for you, so skip it~ 😅) 4. Potato Ciabatta / 3,500 won Taste: A hidden gem from Sungsimdang, a great spot for ciabatta! It's much chewier than regular ciabatta, with a warm, nutty potato flavor. The texture is almost as springy and chewy as rice cake, so it's delicious torn up and eaten on its own, and it's also perfect for sandwiches. 🍓 "Happiness for Kids and Adults Alike" Desserts & Special Treats 5. Matcha Croissant / 6,200 won [Worth Every Penny] It may look a little pricey since the breads above are so inexpensive, but the look and taste make the price completely understandable. Taste: A crisp croissant with beautifully defined layers, loaded with rich, thick matcha cream and plenty of chocolate! Why I recommend it: It has a premium taste and doesn't skimp on the ingredients, so it feels worth the money. It's like saving on all the great-value breads and then treating yourself properly with this one! If you love matcha, you have to try it. 6. White Strawberry / 3,200 won [The Kids' No. 1 Pick!] Taste: Sweet cream and fresh strawberries are sandwiched inside soft bread. It looks pretty and tastes sweet, so the kids absolutely love it. At 3,200 won, it's also an easy treat to buy for them. 7. Marami Croquette / 3,000 won Taste: If you like mala, don't pass this one by. The crisp croquette is filled with a spicy, tongue-tingling mala filling that cuts right through the potential greasiness of fried bread. Try one as a special treat! 📝 Overall "From a Great-Value Baguette to Desserts That Bring Pure Joy" The baguette and chestnut loaf are crowd-pleasers with excellent value, making them great gifts too. As for S-Bread, I only recommend stocking up if you're like me and enjoy wholesome, mild flavors! If you're visiting Daejeon or passing near DCC, stop by the Sungsimdang DCC branch, pick up some bread that suits your taste, and have a wonderful day! ! 🥐✨👋 #DaejeonEats #Sungsimdang #SungsimdangDCC #GreatValueBread #FrenchFlourBaguette #GongjuWholeChestnutLoaf #AbsoluteSteal #SBread #HealthyBread #MatchaCroissant #WhiteStrawberry #KidsSnack #BakeryTour
토마토(134 reviews)Visited 2026/01(1 visits)3.003Matcha SiruEven I never expected that the quick proof shot I took just because it was the famous Matcha Siru would come in handy like this today. First, the strawberries are incredibly fresh and tasty. The cream and cake layers feel a little wetter and denser than I prefer. It’s probably unavoidable since they have to support the weight of the strawberries. A lot of reviews said Matcha Siru has the best flavor combination among the strawberry-filled Siru cakes. I haven’t tried the other kinds, so I can’t compare, but the flavors didn’t feel disconnected. I’d say you need at least 4 people. Walking around downtown carrying a Sungsimdang (성심당) insulated bag gives you both a strange sense of pride and a strength workout. When it comes to baked goods, I prioritize quality over quantity, so I don’t think I’d wait an extremely long time to buy them. Making a friend in Daejeon might also be a good option.
