I knew this place before it appeared on TV, but last time I went, I arrived during the last seating, so the stir-fried spicy pork was mostly just scraps, which didn't leave a great impression. The only thing that stood out back then was the remarkably high quality of the white rice. I actually revisited for the spicy pork, and the quality of the spicy pork shown on "Ttogan-jip" was completely different from the scrap-heavy meat I had before. It made me curious to try the food in its prime condition. Ordered the cheonggukjang (extra-strong soybean paste stew) set and the doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew) set. You can mix and match if you're in a group, so I recommend trying both. The cheonggukjang is that thick style I often ate at a friend's house when I was younger. The smell isn't too strong and the seasoning is moderate, so it's not overwhelming. The doenjang-jjigae has a clear, spicy broth with a salty and refreshing finish. The look of the spicy pork is definitely completely different from before. The glossy sheen from the sugar coating looks beautiful. It tastes moderately sweet, and there's enough fat that the texture is chewy and savory. It doesn't have any gamey odor and is an ideal, crowd-pleasing spicy pork. The price used to be 8,500 won, so it's gone up quite a bit. But these days, set meals in regional areas often start over 10,000 won, so this is still really good value and cheap. It's not worth traveling from far away just for this, but since Nonsan hosts many festivals, I recommend stopping by to grab a delicious meal while you're at it.
