It seems to be run by one of the family members from Mokminjeong. Mokminjeong is a place where the parents of a childhood friend of mine used to work, so the name is familiar to me too. It makes me glad to see that it has become a restaurant that many people in Changwon know. As soon as I entered Mokmin Gomtang, a phrase caught my eye. '1 billion won compensation if flavor enhancers, non-dairy creamer, or extracts are added.' It's quite an intense statement. I felt it meant they were that confident in their broth, which raised my expectations. The side dishes that came out first were napa cabbage kimchi and cubed radish kimchi (kkakdugi). When eating gomtang, the taste of the kimchi is just as important as the soup, and I was pleased with both. The kkakdugi was sweet and well-fermented, and the cabbage kimchi was also perfectly aged, making it a great accompaniment to the soup. The broth didn't have that sticky, thick sensation on the palate like a gomtang boiled at home for a long time. However, it still felt quite rich compared to other places I have tried. I seasoned it with salt at first and then added a little bit of the kkakdugi juice. Adding the savory umami to the hearty broth allowed me to enjoy a different flavor profile. The meat was also quite generous. It was tender and easy to eat, and wrapping a piece of meat with the noodle side dish was also quite good. Adding noodles and meat while sipping the soup made for a more enjoyable dining experience. Rich broth, tender meat, and well-fermented kimchi. It's a great place to stop by when you are looking for a warm and hearty meal.
