A memorable space in Busan
Despite visiting Busan quite often, I belatedly realized I'd never been to Momos Coffee (모모스커피). It suddenly felt unacceptable, so I made it the first stop of my trip. Parking is available in front of the Yeongdo location of Momos Coffee. There seemed to be plenty of room around 10 a.m., but by noon, hardly any parking spaces were left. It appears to vary significantly by time of day. My hotel was nearby, so I walked over that day. Stepping inside, I found a space far larger than I'd expected. Through the glass walls, the coffee warehouse and roasting area were fully visible. It felt more like a coffee factory or exhibition hall than a café. I'd seen the space in videos beforehand, but its scale and atmosphere were even more impressive in person. There was plenty to look at, from the high ceilings and expansive seating to the coffee equipment and merchandise displayed throughout. In one area, there was even a QR code for an audio guide, like you'd find in an art museum. You could order directly from a staff member or use the QR code on the table to order online. When a family ahead of me had trouble with the QR ordering system, a staff member naturally stepped in and took their order in person. It was a small moment, but unlike the cool impression created by the vast space, the service felt warm. I ordered a café latte. It smelled wonderful from the moment I picked up the cup. With the first sip, the beans' nutty flavor flowed naturally into the texture of the milk. The coffee wasn't lost in the milk, nor did the aroma of the beans stand out too aggressively. It was one of the more satisfying lattes I've had recently. The space alone makes it worth stopping by during a trip to Busan, but ultimately, the coffee is why I want to return.
